About WOMBARRA

Wombarra is a small town on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. It sits in the Northern Illawarra region, south of Stanwell Park and north of Wollongong. It's main street is Lawrence Hargrave Drive. Wombarra means Black Duck in Aboriginal.

The town was affected badly by the closure of the drive during the upgrade but has since returned and made a profit fro the nearby Sea Cliff Bridge.

There is a local rugby league team with teams from the under 7's to the open Mens competition. They are called the Northern Suburbs Junior Rugby League Club, or more commonly known as the Bulldogs.

Wombarra has a cemetery, a Lawn Bowls club, Catholic Church and a Train station

The beach is a lesser known surfing destination and surfers often come here as they do Stanwell Park when a big break hits.

Wombarra is also a semi-popular spot among local skaters, who come to skate the fullpipes.
