About NABIAC

The township of Nabiac is located just a 3 hour or 288 km drive to Sydney's north. This little town offers a quaint village atmosphere and old country charm.

Nabiac was the birthplace of Australian poet Les Murray, and that Australia's only Amish family presently live in this tiny town. Nabiac serves as a reminder for how towns on the north coast once were, with charming timber buildings, the old church and school and a wealth of age old homes. This town dates back to the 1880's, however it wasn't recognised as a town until 1952. Some of the beautiful historic buildings have been preserved and restored, while others are crumbling and falling down.

The Wallamba river flows throught the heart of the town, providing many leisure, picnic and walking areas. The river is also a perfect fishing spot. Flathead and Bream are the most commonly caught fish here but chances are that other types are populating the river. The abundance of wildlife in the area is astonishing, including: wallabies, possums, gliders, kangaroos and many species of birds.
