About SUSSEX INLET

The area was originally occupied by the Dhurga Aborigines. Jacob Ellmoos, a migrant from Prussia, was the first European settler. He found the site during a fishing expedition during the late 1870s, and was granted a small parcel of land. He subsequently brought his parents and siblings out from Prussia to settle in the beautiful and tranquil area. Dairying, timber and sawmilling were the early industries.

Today the main industries at Sussex Inlet are fruit-growing and hobby farms. The town is a popular tourist area for fishing and swimming.
