About TALLONG

The area was once known as Barber's Creek and was named after George Barber who came from the Isle of Wight and was a pioneer of the district. In 1821 Governor Macquarie granted 300 acres to George in the Tallong-Marulan district. He ended up owning almost 4000 acres which he called Glenrock.

In 1900 the fruit growing industry was established and in 1915 Tallong was making progress as one of the most prosperous orchard districts in NSW.
