About BAGDAD
The small rural community of Bagdad is on the Midland Highway, in south-eastern Tasmania. It was an important rest and horse changing area in the days of the horse and buggy. Explorer Hugh Germain named the town from a book on the Arabian Nights.
It is now a community of mixed farms and orchards.
